Shinji Shukufuku State
Systema Delenda EstGod-blessed status is a condition of divine protection and recognition within the System. It is not merely a blessing in the devotional sense: it alters how recipients are registered, conceals their former identities, and marks them as agents belonging to a god. In the struggle between Cato’s anti-System network and the authorities that police the System’s worlds, the status becomes both a shield for fugitives and a visible sign of competing sovereignty.
Definition and Operation
God-blessed status is conferred through a divine blessing associated with a deity’s authority. When Raine and Leese reached the center of the Temple nave, Cato detected a faint golden emission around them. The glow resembled the artificial spectral signature of divine Skills, lingered briefly like Cerenkov radiation, and then disappeared. Raine reported that they had received the divine blessing, while Mii-Es explained its practical effect: the blessing would obscure them and register them as god-blessed, Chosen agents rather than expose their actual identities to the System. The protection operates at a level beyond ordinary concealment. Mii-Es noted that a Core Deity might theoretically revoke the blessing, but otherwise even the System would recognize the recipients only as god-blessed and nothing more. This makes the condition a form of privileged legibility: the System does not lose sight of the protected individuals, but is forced to interpret them through the authorized category of a god’s agents.
Protection Against Identification
The blessing becomes necessary because Raine and Leese’s earlier identity protections were insufficient. They had relied on artifacts that altered the results of Appraise, yet Leese recognized that a powerful observer such as Muar could have located them through their descriptions and high-rank senses. Divine protection was of a different order from those lower-rank artifacts. It did not simply falsify an isolated appraisal; it changed the recipients’ standing within the System’s own interpretive framework. The sisters therefore combined the blessing with disguise accessories supplied by Dyen. The rings changed their bodies so that Raine became larger, with a tail that appeared furred rather than scaled, while Leese became smaller and slighter, with a shorter, whippier tail. They also adopted different names and the appearances of entirely different races. Their Skill preferences and their habit of traveling together remained possible clues, but the blessing removed the most dangerous connection: the System itself would no longer identify them as the agents being hunted.
Travel, Evasion, and Political Authority
The status directly supports the sisters’ movement through contested territory. Before setting out, Cato instructed them to remain safe and warned that his coverage of some of the Inner Worlds might help only if trouble appeared immediately. Leese answered that the blessings and physical disguises should suffice. The pair avoided the Inner Worlds junction where they had previously traveled, using Cato’s map and their movement Skills to cross hundreds of world connections in minutes before reaching their destination. This protection also reveals the political character of divine status. A god-blessed individual is not simply hidden; the individual is reclassified as someone under divine sponsorship. The blessing therefore functions as an assertion that a deity’s authority can shield a person from ordinary System mechanisms. Its vulnerability to revocation by a Core Deity preserves the hierarchy behind it: protection is powerful precisely because it is delegated from a higher religious and administrative order, not because the recipient has become independent of that order.
Contrast with System Dependence
The meaning of divine blessing is sharpened by Muar’s response to the System. When he arrived on Uriva, he entered the temple because it was the best place available to honor the planet’s god and the divine System. Inside, he experienced the System’s presence as soothing after the terror of existing in a blank System-less space without status, abilities, or a reliable way to understand the world. He meditated at the temple crystal for days and was rewarded with the Divine Insight Skill. For Muar, divine connection restores purpose and confirms the truth of the path defined by the System. The blessing received by Raine and Leese has a more strategic use, but it still depends on the same sacred infrastructure. Their protection comes from divine recognition even as they work within Cato’s campaign against System domination. The contrast between Muar’s devotional dependence and the sisters’ tactical use of divine favor shows that the status can serve opposed interpretations of the sacred: it can reinforce obedience to the System, or provide cover for those trying to undermine it.
Wider Divine Order and Narrative Significance
The limits and privileges of god-blessed status belong to a larger hierarchy of divine administration. Initik has guarded the people of Uriva for more than a thousand years and understands his role as guiding them, while the True Core prohibits combat Skills in its vestibule and reserves direct communion with the System’s heart for a small subset of beings with divine affinity. At the highest level, Misse Eln claims the title of True Deity and announces that the System has chosen her for a grave duty, using that authority to summon the heads of the Nine Great Clans and propose severing the frontier against Cato. Against this background, divine blessing is a portable fragment of sovereignty. It lets a god designate agents, protect them from ordinary scrutiny, and make their altered identity authoritative within the System. Yet the protection does not erase the instability of the order that grants it. Marus Eln and Initik can suspend traffic to and from Sydea by divine authority, turning System administration into blockade, while Cato remains difficult to classify because his works and presence cannot be found through the True Interface. God-blessed status thus occupies the unstable boundary between obedience and resistance: it is a sacred mark that conceals, legitimizes, and empowers, but also reminds the reader that survival within the System still depends on which higher authority is willing to claim a person as its own.
